Olios Records front man, Yo Maps had released a song called “Budget” which was the lead single of his album Vibes On Vibes. The song which had a music video stirred up controversy when fans noticed there were kissing scenes in the music video. Pastors and Reverends also got involved and went for Yo Maps head. If you havent watched the music video yet, you can visit Yo Maps Youtube channel and will be to find and watch it. By the time you may even be watching it, the scenes would have been removed already. Some scenes show two girls touching and kissing each other.
As you know, Zambia is a christian nation. You would wonder what was the motive behind those scenes in the music video. The backlash was expected but Yo Maps still went ahead to put such scenes in the video. ZAM which is a governing body of the music industry in Zambia decided to take action after the controversy. Last month, on the 26th of April, Zam contacted Yo Maps and his team regarding the music video issue. They informed Yo Maps that it would be right to edit the video to match Zambian cultural values.
ZAM also helped advice Yo Maps on how to edit a music video on Youtube without deleting it. Yo Maps music director, Director Lo was able to make changes to the video and confirmed it to ZAM. Yo Maps team through ZAM has said the new version will be available soon globally including Youtube. ZAM also went further to remind Yo Maps that he has a huge fanbase in Zambia and can influence the audience positively or negatively. Watch Budget Video By Yo Maps below.
